As part of a conversion of a Summer Cottage into a year-round residence, the kitchen was transformed into an authentic “cook’s kitchen”. The space is uninterrupted by seating and gathering spaces; the floor plan creates an efficient magic triangle of appliances; and the combination of open, closed and glassed storage creates a convenient visual access to cookware. Materials are a combination of the warmth of wood, the sleekness of painted cabinets, and the ease in maintenance of stainless steel.

Client Inspired? - This is an absolute dynamite kitchen. Where did the inspiration come from? Was the client all about it from the start, or was it some proposed ? »
Siemasko + Verbridge This project was definitely a collaborative experience between the client and our designers. The homeowners decided early on that this was to be a “cooking” kitchen and that actual seating for meals would be provided in the dining and living areas. They knew what was needed in order for the space to be functional for them. We took their ideas and turned them into a layout that included a cart on wheels to have the ability to be moved where needed, open shelves to see kitchen ware easily, lots of natural light, and custom mahogany millwork to add warmth and offset the stainless steel. The homeowners now feel that they can create spectacular meals with comfort and ease in their new kitchen!
