Olde World Walls & Ceilings, Inc Is this a project you are wanting to do yourself? If, it is, and you've not worked with plaster before, you may want to work with paint.
The Italian plasters are fantastic but can be pricey.
For a high end look that is more cost effective, we use veneer plaster with color in our mix. The materials costs compared to Italian (Venetian) plaster are minuscule. After the veneer plaster is applied, it can be left alone or apply a colored wax if a more dramatic look is wanted.
This works great for a matte finish; if a high gloss finish is wanted than it's better to stay with true Venetian plaster.
Julie Landrum Also-in case you aren't already aware-home depot sells "Venetian plaster" line of Behr products. It's about $40/gallon which is cheap in comparison to the real thing-but you apply it pretty much the same way. The difference is that the Behr version has synthetic bits instead of real marble which drives the price up. I have used it in my home and I love it. It is Matt finished unless you choose to burnish it or add wax for a high gloss finish. Oh-and one more thing-the brochure will tell you it only comes in certain colors but it isn't true-you can choose from any Behr color-the person working just needs to know how much to add since it is so thick. I was fortunate the Behr rep was there the day I was in so I got just what I wanted!
Dave Adams Photography I believe all the flooring in the house was reclaimed from buildings in France. I don't know how it was finished after its installation here, but I would assume polyurathane?

We hope this helped!
