dkstroop I have an island with a stove top -which it looks like this kitchen also has. If I am not mistaken, how did you get away with no range. Ours is a large, bulky custom build which I do NOT like. I have looked and looked at island hoods and have not found one I like. Does it work to have no hood above this stove top? pros? cons? Am really wondering, as I think it would look so much nicer just to have a good size light fixture as you have featured .thanks!

Bill Fry Construction - Wm. H. Fry Const. Co. Yup, there's a downdraft there. You can make the image look bigger on a PC by pressing the CTRL-key and the +-key at the same time (CTRL and - to make it smaller) and there you'll see a little seam behind the cooktop. Although I can't tell what brand it is, here is one example of the Thermador which is inconspicuous:
