The width of each of these drawers is 24" wide and their depth is about 20" with drawers on the other side of the island with 18" deep seats. The space between the island and these wardrobes are about 30" on the back side and 36" on the front. You need a minimum of two feet to walk around in a closet or you just don't have room, although you island can be really small if you insist.
