Cost of this portico - Hi, I showed a picture of this portico to my contractor who is doing an addition on the side of our house. He said it would cost $10,000 to construct it. I thought that seemed excessive. I would love to hear your thoughts on whether this quote is out of line. Thanks! »
foxlondon Thanks for the quick reply! It's on an existing 10' wide x 6' deep slab (covered in slate) and the pitch would be about 12' tall. Metal roofing is a separate line item. The house is all brick.
The Churchill Company MA The price you got is pretty equitable then, as the size here is 7ft wide 4ft deep and flashing to brick will involve a reglet cut and lead work .
Make sure with the town that you have the required set back from the street !

5-Like this but would use round columns. Would not use spacer section between the top of square column and roof. This could also be designed without the arch in the middle. Recessed gable moved forward would prevent water shed problems on cross beam that is sitting further out than gable end.

#1 Concept Photo- This photo expresses the connection of upper fascia, lower soffit, and columns. This should meld well with the existing conditions / soffit on the left. The crown at the upper fascia will need to run continuous with the existing crown / soffit.
