Glenn Gissler Design The day bed was designed by the very important modern architect Mies van der Rohe. It is available through Knoll. It is truly a modern classic used in teh legenday Barcelona Pavillion.
Lisa Lucas Design i like the spaces to really function so make sure the furniture is scaled accordingly and keep the color scheme simple. Dark colors blur the edges and make a space feel more intimate. Better to have a great sozy and inviting space than too stark and undone which will stay unused. Upscale restaurants have employed this practice to create ambience. You want to avoid it looking like a waiting room or corporate space with too cool of a feel.
I imagine the daybed would have looked smashing in the original pavilion; it's a shame Mies hadn't designed it in time. Even though the exposition ended decades ago, you can visit the pavilion, or at least a recreation of it built in 1959 in Barcelona.
