Love print rather than stripe or solid - Can the OUTDOOR FABRIC material be used for a small outdoor covered porch as an awning...We use the awnings from May to October in a beach town. Not year round use. TY Jo

Thank you sooo much for your feedback! I have had (2) sets of awnings, used for our summer home, that have ALWAYS been striped/Sunbrella material. I am so tired of the same stripe and solids that are available. Being a small community of homes..do you think everyone has the same blue/green (beach colors) "thing going" here? I am so into trying to find a "hip" beachy/nautical even botanical thing..heck, I'd even go polka dots, to brighten up the small outdoor porch. The awnings are taken down and put up by my husband, each and every season, and are only used from May-September. If anyone knows anything about the material that can be used...PLEASE, I'd welcome it! TY Joanne

I understand completely! If you go to the top of Houzz and in the search box type Trina Turk Outdoor Fabric You will see small pictures of fabrics - click on that and you will see all of Trina Turk fabrics. You might could use these - but all have about 500 Hours of Lightfassness .

Lightfassness hours do not equate to sunlight hours. Typical indoor upholstery products are expected not to fade when exposed to this light for 40 hours, and indoor drapery for 60 hours.

We have all been told not to look directly at an arc-welding torch when it is in use. That very bright light will damage your eyes. This damage is caused by two elements in that light: UV and Infrared (heat). UV and Infrared are the two components that cause fabric to fade. There is a great deal of confusion surrounding the interpretation of lightfastness hours in the design industry. The real question that designers need to have answered is how long will it last? The current trend in the industry is now to offer warranties for lightfastness on outdoor goods. The warranty gives the client the peace-of-mind that they need when specifying these products for their projects. You will find such a warranty on many of the Cote d'Azur patterns. The warranties vary slightly in terms of length of time, but provide significant assurance against fading.

Not sure how it would hold up to rain though. Do you set out side when it is raining?

Let me know if you see anything you like or have more questions.
