Officially called “CH07” —but known to everyone by its nickname—the Shell Chair is now one of Wegner’s most recognized creations. On the occasion of its 50th anniversary, the perpetually innovative Shell Chair serves as a foil for Maharam’s diverse range of textiles, including homespun wool textures, re-editioned designs of the Wiener Werkstätte and Alexander Girard, and collaborations with Hella Jongerius and Paul Smith.  Twenty special Shell Chairs, each with a different Maharam textile and coordinating wood frame, will be offered for sale starting September 1 as part of the Maharam Shell Chair Project.  Manufactured by Carl Hansen & Son.Designed in 1963.
