This tiny kitchen makes a great statement. The owner was gutsy and went with this beautiful shade of green. The red tiled floor makes it all pop. Custom cabinets were able to utilze every inch of space.
Amy Birdsong Hi- I am not sure which brand this particular sink is. I did the cabinet design when with Heritage Woodworks- not as a freelance client- so I was only involved in cabinets and color selection. Shaws is a famous brand that does beautiful farmhouse sinks ( http://www.rohlhome.com/Kitchen/Product_Detail.aspx?ProductID=19674&Collection=468&SubCollection=469&ConnectionString="Product.Sinks$S$Shaws Sinks$P$$C$V" ). I have had clients have good luck on some websites like overstock.com and faucet.com - so you may want to check with those sites as well. Good luck! Amy
Amy Birdsong Hi- I did not spec the appliances for this job, so I don't know if the microwave is just re-circulating or actually venting. Since the sink wall is exterior- it's likely it's vented.
Kathy from Connecticut Appliance To determine if your over the range microwave is vented outside, please take a look inside the cabinet above to see if there is a vent. Also,it could be rear vented, where you would see a vent behind the microwave outside the house. This looks like Ge model# JVM1850 (vented model) or JNM1851 (non-vented model). The model number is located inside this microwave, and is another way to tell if it's vented model or not.
Amy Birdsong Hi. I don't know the floor choice- just that it's tile. I helped with the cabinet pla, paint color and countertop to go with the client's tile. Sorry I couldn't help!
Amy Birdsong Hi- It is ok to put a microwave above a gas range- just follow the manufacturer's spacing requirements. I usually try to find another home for the microwave as I don't like having to reach over a stove to get to it and like making a hood a design focal point, but sometimes it's the best use of the space or a client really wants it there.
Amy Birdsong Hi- I'm sorry- I don't have a picture of that angle. There are just basic upper and lower cabinets to the left of the fridge with the fridge having a deep cabinet above. The kitchen is about 7' by 8'. Thanks- Amy
Beautiful! Absolutley adorable! How many square feet is this kitchen? - I'm playing around with remodeling ideas and this looks like the exact size of our kitchen space. I'd love to figure out how close it is. Thanks! »
Hi! LOVE this kitchen. I was planning something similar and wasn't able to really get it across to my hubby but then your pic came and there it was! I am hoping you can tell me the color/type of countertop and the backsplash. I would really like to do this exact stuff in my kitchen. I don't have a red floor but otherwise I think the rest will be the same. Thank you so much for your help and for this pic! »
Amy Birdsong Hi- the kitchen did turn out so well! I actually don't know what the tile is. The client came in with it and wanted to use it- so we chose the cabinet color and countertop to work with her tile. The countertop is Silestone in Olive. Daltile does a similar subway tile and their Natural Hues line has a color called Kiwi that looks similar online (and comes in the 3x6 subway size)- but you'd need to confirm in person or with a sample. You should pick up the Sherwin Williams paint sample, a Silestone Olive sample and take them to your local tile place- they should be able to help you find something similar. The green tile didn't match the counter or cabinet color exactly- but they all worked harmoniously together. I think the olive color in the counters helps temper the brightness. I love how bold the client went- it turned out to be a little jewel box that makes you smile when you see it. Good luck with your project!
Amy Birdsong Hi! It's Hearts of Palm by Sherwin Williams SW6415. We were worried it would be too bright- but it turned out really well in the space and looks fantastic with the reddish tile floor and white appliances.
How deep are the countertops and what's the distance between the countertop and hanging cabinets? My ultimate fear is not having useable countertop space. Also, what dimensions were you dealing with for this kitchen? I love the execution on this kitchen! »
knuks We just bought a house and the kitchen lay out is exactly the same as this one. We're thinking of renovating the kitchen and then I came across this picture. Thank you for posting it, it's a big help!!
Perhaps you would like to add a little life to your kitchen. Why not try a bold paint color on your cabinets? This yellow-green really gives this kitchen an injection of personality.

I don't like this shade of green, but this shows what using earth colors would look like: wood floor, perhaps keep the cabinets current dark brown and walls a more vibrant green?
I love the colour. One of the most ideal shades of green for kitchen tough I would love to see it reversed, green on the owen and white furniture. I really like how the little things like wall space between upper and lower shelves is made.
I like the way a sink is placed by the window. I also like a stove spot. Fridge could be placed against the wall near the stove. Maybe separated form the stove be one cabinet. I think there would be enough room.

Painted cabinets are one way to spruce up a space. You don't have to buy new but make sure if you are going to paint that you do all the prep work necessary.
Packs a lot of kitchen function into a footprint rather like the one we'll be working with in the new house. I'd prefer a wall oven for easier aging in place, and I don't think our fridge-freezer will fit on the opposite wall. But it might and I wouldn't have thought about it without this picture. Also love the colour on the cabinetry, the subway tiling with accent tiles, and the floor-is that vinyl or ceramic tile?
