olldbobbi mdwlaw - don't feel that way, your question is totally fine. I don't think there's anything wrong with a designer sharing a paint color or chair source! Sarah Richardson has great (and free) design shows on tv all the time. As do many other designers. If I were a designer, I'd be proud and pleased that someone liked my design well enough to ask these questions!

I have a thing for pink, and here the pink just jumps off the page. The chairs take on a sculptural quality, and the lines between the sleek white floorboards are so slight the floor looks almost like painted concrete. If you want color to stand out, an all-white room is a great way to start.

3. Speaking of reluctantly dipping your toes into color, Tara Seawright had to bring her clients around to color one tone at a time. She kept a blank white slate in the background and added color with replaceable pieces like these pillows, chairs and artwork.

Tara's husband Sam is an artist, and the painting in this room is one of his. "As an interior designer, I have a natural attraction to pairs of things," she says. Sam "encourages me to juxtapose colors and pieces and to break free from some of my natural inclinations."
And though she's a fan of resources like 1stdibs , Tara says there's nothing like learning from furniture dealers. "They are such a wonderful resource, especially in New York... Being around a piece of furniture and learning from these experts can never be replaced by looking at a two-dimensional drawing."
Having so many of these great resources around her can be dangerous, though. "I fall in love with objects and make everything work around them," she says. "Right now I have five storage spaces!"
