Manon Floreat That's a good question. I'll be interested in hearing what others have to say on the matter. As I look at my 8 ft ceilings, part of me would go 1/3 up from the floor. But then, I wonder if going 2/3 - 3/4 up wouldn't lend some height to the room. I suppose it might also depend on the room.
gfabythesea I also think it's a good question. I was all thinking of using beadboard in my mudd room. Someone suggested to go up to ceilling but I'm thinking it may be too much. What do you guys think?
Thanks for sharing this photo. I love the look and also the idea of the hooks.
One glance into this entry and we know someone with a love for gardening and nature lives here. The sunhat hanging near the door is not only convenient for the gardener, it looks wonderful against the beautiful beadboard wainscoting. Love the bird's nest in the window!
Another mudroom application shows how beadboard is traditionally applied as wainscotting on the lower portion of the wall. This can become challenging with windows, especially if they're round or oddly shaped. Precise creative detailing is required to frame the window and connect with the crown molding. Bring this example to your woodworker and demand detailed drawings before he or she gets to work.
