Siemasko + Verbridge Well we think it's a great idea! We would keep the tread the same color as the floor, and do a different color railing/newel. The contrast of the dark railing adds visual intrigue, but you do have to chose the right tones to pull it off. Do some test samples, and see them against the different lights in the room (artificial and natural) because light always changes the tone of a color. Hope that helps!

brownkellyk I used Min-Wax Special Walnut to try to reproduce this look and it's almost an identical match. I love the color - also used the semi-gloss finish. It's a perfect shade of rich brown with hints of red, orange, yellow, but no other color is overwhelming undertone.
