Landscaping Dilemma - Living in a Philadelphia Row House/Town House leaves very little space for imagination for the front of the house. Everyone has front lawns ... BORING! I'd like to change the front preferably with an asian theme ... something different to enjoy using, something easy to care for, a quiet and serene area I can call my own. Any ideas out there? »
Harmony Design Northwest Hi Orawsky, this is Lisa Meddin from Harmony Design Northwest - thanks for adding my pic to your idea book. Re: front yards gardens (vs. lawn), I highly recommend using a landscape designer in your area. Small spaces require a lot of thought, as every element has to work, and a good design will be worth the investment. I suggest going to the Association of Professional Landscape Designers (www.apld.org) and searching for APLD member landscape designers in Philadelphia. You will find a list of designers with links to their websites. Browse, and call a few who you think may be a good fit. Most designers charge for an initial consultation, but again, it is a worthy investment.
Habitat Design Hey there - there's lots you can do in small spaces. depends on how 'asian' you want to go. Are you looking at the zen look of pebbles and shaped plants or something a little softer with grasses, moss, small stones etc. Do you want something restful with cool colors or bright?
Good luck!
