12 Steps Before Buying an How to Judge the Quality of Antique Furniture

What Houzz contributors are saying:

Price everything. Nothing is more off-putting to a potential buyer than to have to ask for a price. Also, bear in mind that this is a garage sale! No one is going to pay anything close to retail; everyone is looking to pay pennies on the dollar. With that in mind, start your price at about 25 percent more than you would reasonably expect to get, which makes room for you to accept the inevitable lower offer. Happy buyer, happy seller.Last suggestion on your garage sale: Open early; close early. Honestly, I have done enough sales over the decades to know that anything that is going to sell will sell fast, probably in the first two hours. You can stay open all day, or even two days, but any sale worth making will happen first thing. Give yourself permission to not drag things out.
