Austin Residence
This project was designed to compliment the clients simple lifestyle and minimalist taste. The entry courtyard is cool and clean, the sideyard has a wide expanse of lawn surrounded with low maintenance shrubs and trees. The back deck was made for entertaining. Eating and living areas defined by not only furniture but with large planters used as "room" dividers. The rest of the garden is mass planted with groundcover, shrubs and perennials.

mariachill Love this combination, I have recently found the beauty in foliage plants for my pots, instead of tedious annuals. Greens, silvers and all kinds of Coleus. Low maintenance and textured! Then...in the ground they go!

Perennial plants can also provide us with more subtle planting. Brunnera is a great plant for moist, shady situations. Its large heart-shape leaves make a good ground cover, and though it has delicate sprays of flowers similar to forget-me-nots, the foliage is the real winner. This variety is Brunnera macrophylla 'Silver Wings', whose variegated leaves seem to have an almost silver overlay. Here they contrast against spiky grasses for a tropical effect.
