Archer & Buchanan Architecture, Ltd. Glad you like the photo. This could be a great idea for a kitchen space. For this cottage it overlooks a small reading nook. We call this the butterfly window. It was custom designed by Archer & Buchanan to hinge from the center while the two halves of the circle open like wings.
JUST LOVE THE DESIGN - i would like to know how you would charge for the floor plans of this "hobbit house", i am looking at building here in Australia on a very big acreage and this house would suit it very well... is it possible to get the floor plans, i have the pictures here and saved it to my favourites folder... i would love a reply on the price of the floor plans and a price on construction as well! awaiting your reply with the utmost respect
thank you »
The cottage's distinctive butterfly window, made from mahogany and so named because it looks like the wings of a butterfly when open, stemmed from Tolkien's sketches, as well as his descriptions of hobbits preferring windows that showcase views of the woods. The semicircular halves of the window open from a center hinge.
