Don't the Marble Tiles get Stained in the Shower? - I love the look of the marble wall in the shower and was planning for remodelling my bathrooms. Then an architect friend told me that natral marble tiles cannot be used on wet walls as they will absorb the water and shampoo etc and will leave stains. What's your experience and advice please? »
rbcola I too love certain marble......but in my bathroom.....porcelin tiles may be easier to maintain and offer a "similar"....look. I'll put the marble (if possible) in less "wet" areas, where maintaining it is more manageable. There are many discussions here on houzz about the qualities and choices regarding marble. Knowing the pros/cons.....makes it an "educated decision".
I would like to use a similar tub/shower application and need to know more about how this was done. - Is the raised floor where the tub sits sloped to the back wall? If so, how is the tub set properly and level? Does the channel drain run the whole length of the space? Do you have any other images of this bathroom? »
deenagraber Thank you so much! Found a company (bertch)by me(northeast) that makes a color wenge that looks like the picture if anyone else is interested.
Custom Home Planning Center The nice thing about wet room edge drains is you don't need an over flow drain. just a bottom drain. It works best if the drain is on the low side of the room, but the base can be adjusted to drain the tub completely
Eutree Wide Plank Flooring Prefinished wood flooring with an engineered base of Baltic birch or similar will have greater stability in humid environments like bathrooms. This floor would be easy to emulate with any number of stain brands. I would suggest looking for a plank flooring supplier like us and do a consult on your project to decided what species and width would work best for you. joel@eutree.com
