This lakeside home in Horseshoe Bay was built as a retreat for the Houston family. They desired to have the pool cascade into the lake below, requiring it to be built on the second story of the home. This home was the recipient of the Texas Star Award for Best Outdoor Living Area.

Looking for pool on lake lbj - We are considering designs for our waterfront lot on lake lbj. I am interested in learning more about how you did a pool on the 2nd level. It seems to defy physics! How is this possible? »
Zbranek & Holt Custom Homes Thank you for contacting Zbranek & Holt Custom Homes, this home is actually located in Horseshoe Bay on Applehead Island overlooking Lake LBJ. We specialize in turning our clients visions and dreams into reality, which is just what this specific home and pool dictated!
To answer your question...
The same structural engineer designed the pool and the home foundation. They were poured at the same time using a concrete pump truck for equal placement. The pool structure included concrete piers to the natural grade below with fill material under the basin. Steps next to the pool lead to a boat dock below and the catch basin from the negative edge effect of the water falling from above. While very attractive, the bill for this elevated pool was over $ 200,000.

Zbranek & Holt Custom Homes No this is a private residence overlooking Lake LBJ in Horseshoe Bay TX. We had this pool constructed on the second level of the home (main lving area) with a negative edge that has a catch basin a good 10+ feet below. We wanted to create the illusion that the pool sat directly over the lake.

If you're still in the process of planning your pool, consider adding a fire element for those chillier autumn nights. This fire pit integrated with the pool design provides not only another entertainment area for the homeowner and guests, but a warm reprieve for swimmers during cooler weather.
This is what I was talking about with the water coming under the roof line... see the change in dept... could be seats... eating area... and the fireplace... wow
