j0dy Or you could just ask for the occassional table and they should know what you are talking about, but ya, ackees I think that's right...the Malm or something like that.
Cammi Francis Quinton Yes, it is called Malm. I have it in Birch. It will not fit over a typical "American" bed that uses both box springs and mattress. I've never actually been able to use mine over the bed, LOL, so we've used it in the dining room (dining table is birch also) as a side board.
Large graphic. Probably the simplest idea of all is to hang a huge graphic behind your bed. Vintage school maps are a fantastic fit because they tend to run big, and it's hard to find wall space for them elsewhere. What better wall space than the big blank area above the bed?
A big map from IKEA makes a statement. "Whenever we're stumped by a geography question, we say, 'let's go look at the big map!'," Van Wicklen says. The rolling bed tray is from IKEA as well. The bed linens are from Pottery Barn and she found the blinds at Lowe's.
You can also take advantage of space above the mattress. This table rolls so you pull it up toward you when you need it and push it back to the foot of the bed when you don't. I hope you're getting along with your partner. This one requires a little cooperation if you aren't sleeping alone.
This oversized map from IKEA serves as a large and worldly headboard. The mother of the boy who sleeps in this room, Interior Designer Jeanette Van Wicklin, says "Whenever we're stumped by a geography question, we say, 'let's go look at the big map!'"
This space looks like it was just transformed into a more mature design. The map keeps it playful, but you'll be happy to hang on to the furniture long after your child has left for college.
