Antique Reclaimed French Blonde Barr limestone flooring

The grandest of stone floors, these antique reclaimed flagstones have a beautiful patina and texture that only time can produce. Quarried from the Languedoc area of France, the large flagstones work beautifully in contemporary as well as traditional settings. Once covering the floors of French chateaux, manor houses, and monasteries, the stone immediately will impart a feeling of permanence and history.

When originally quarried, Gray Barr limestone was sawn and fashioned by hand for centuries up until the beginning of the 19th century, when they were superseded by terracotta. When the stone was freshly cut it was only relatively hard-wearing but it becomes hard with age, as limestone hardens when in contact with air. The main quarries of this stone are mostly closed and virtually no flagstones have been produced for over 100 years.

Shown are stair tread/risers with finished edges; Flooring is available in random sizes as well as a large apx. 19" wide x random length paver.
