A fresh take on an old space. We designed the custom built-in cabinets and newly created mantel in this 1901 Craftsman. We added a rich textured grass cloth in the 2 story entry to create some warmth and add dimension to the space. The beautifully restored wood casings and trim have a warm glow that creates an inviting space for this family.

Alexandra Rae This is gorgeous. I googled "Chippendale fretwork molding" (for a ceiling treatment), and this came up. I've long been one of your fans and followers. Great work!
Always take into consideration everything the eye can see from each space. Though the stairs are in a separate room, they’re in clear sight when you’re relaxing in this seating area. By papering them in grasscloth, onlookers won’t feel bored with the view.
Design tip: In high traffic spaces such as entry or hallways, apply clear strips at the outside corners of the walls to keep grasscloth from fraying.
I have the dark trim and the warm rich yellow hall. Think I'll try white or off white in my L R. Through my French doors. Need to find a good off white as my area rugs are cream based.
