Beneke Interiors Plaster can absolutely be used in modern spaces. I would recommend using a tinted lime based plaster. It can troweled super smooth and depending what you like ( sheen or flat) be polished or clear glazed. Look up the W hotel lobbies as an example. Here is some work I have done that is modern plaster. ( I would not recommend clay plaster for this)
