Spore Design Hi, the stairs are 36" wide which is the minimum allowable by code.

Bud Dietrich, AIA We added a spiral stair in our home leading from the mudroom to the kids' bedrooms. It wouldn't have been allowable if we didn't have a "front" code compliant stair. So working with a good, local architect is important as bepsf notes.
