“groove knotty pine that had darkened to a deep amber color. We sanded the walls (chemical strippers did not work) with a belt sander followed by an orbital sander, then stained the walls with a white oil stain from Ace Hardware. All the knots are visible, but muted. The effect is a naturally bright light” “paint the knotty pine with a dilute eggshell paint. If the knots do not show to your satisfaction, go over the knots in the next few days with a burnt umber or some color that is satisfying. Dab it on maybe use cheesecloth, or do like the old faux artists used to do and put some dilute color on your thumb”
