Here is another example of mixing wood colors... I imagine this is what your kitchen would be like if the main cabinetry were white, but the bar area was something darker. But I worry if that would start to clash too much with the giant oak entertainment unit and oak trim throughout the space. Although I guess you can't really see it from the kitchen. With the slate floor here it looks good.
