It is only available in natural concrete. You can, however, stain the fire pit using any commercial concrete stain. We advise testing first, however, to make sure you are getting the color you desire.

There is no shut-off valve. Most people put the valve on the ground near the bowl. We can have a hole drilled on the side of the bowl however, if you need one there. Just send an email after you place the order to request it.

Sure. You can burn wood in this...however you do still need to lay several inches of lava rock down so dissipate the heat to keep surface cracks from forming. There is no way to eliminate them entirely, but the lava rock really helps. Wood burns a lot hotter than gas. The pit is poured with meshing inside, however, so it won't crack apart or anything.

Yes wood can be burned but as the previous poster said wood burns hotter and I am sure that the pot was designed for gas. Wood also spreads its heat to the sides and down as well since it becomes radiant heat. The gas however burn up since the gases themselves are trying to escape. So most of the heat is directed up even though the lava rock is getting hot and creating a sort of radiant heat itself. I know this because we were testing out a gas fire pit and let it burn for about 20 minutes and the lower lava rock was not even warm.

We usually recommend lava rock as it is inexpensive and works well but make sure whatever you use is rated for high heat, including the lava rock (not all work). I would suggest you go to your local fire place store and order something there. Fire glass is lovely, just expensive. You can do a mix. As for the propane feed, you will need a special adapter to use with the fire ring so it doesn't whistle (and make you insane). I am not allowed to put any other links here, but you can google it and you should be able to find someone on line who sells the adapter.

Normally the key is put on the gas line to come up near the fire pit, not on it. We can drill a hole on the side however, if needed.

So sorry, we don't. They are usually done in ceramic but hadn't sold well for us in the past so we stopped carrying them. You should be able to find them in a fireplace store.

A fire pit adds an entertaining space to a backyard that will be used year-round — at least that’s the case for us here in San Diego. I love a big pit or fireplace bowl because so many people can squeeze in around it!

Wood burning fire pit is probably our best option as we don't want renters using a huge amount of gas or propane... Unless we include 1 propane tank w/rental...
