The complete renovation of this turn of the century Carriage House preserved the integrity of the original scale and age of the structure, while enhancing its livability. Every surface was thoughtfully preserved, replaced or reinvented throughout. Landscaping was added to connect the home comfortably to its grounds. Furniture and furnishings were selected to work in harmony with the architecture and to create a timeless and gracious place to call home.

height of the newels? details of the design? - What is the height of the newels? Also, in the design, are those leaves? what are those small tendrils? can we get a more detailed picture of that part? »
Siemasko + Verbridge Thanks for the follow up question Bhuwan Ghimire. The newel post at the bottom is roughly 6-1/2" and the one higher up is roughly 5-1/2".
Siemasko + Verbridge Thanks for your interest, but these are the only photos we have of the stair case and railing. The front view of the newel is the same as the side view.
Siemasko + Verbridge Thanks for your inquiry. The materials for the newels is cherry. The size of the smaller newel is 5"x5" and the larger newel is 7"x7". Hope that helps.
Siemasko + Verbridge Thanks for the question. At the time this railing was constructed it was compliant with requisite sphere according to the Mass Code.
DeWitt Architects It appears that no, it would not comply with the 2009 International Residential Code that Alabama uses. It looks like it fails at the 4”diam ball pass max opening test and maybe the 6" inch ball at the riser tread triangle.
