Anne DeCocco You do not have to buy chalkboards to do this. Use chalkboard paint on the wall and trim it out with the framing material of your choice. Chalkboard paint is sold at most hardware stores or online, where it comes in lots of colors. A very fun project.
Faiella Design Yes that is correct. I used chalk board paint from Benjamin Moore paints. You have to do two coats and 48 hours in-between each coat. The framing that appears to be framing in picture is actually part of the architecture in the room, meaning it was there!
A chalkboard wall makes a surprise appearance in this casual dining room. Scribble a note to welcome dinner guests and give them a hint about what's on tonight's menu.
If you already have a light fixture above your table, consider lining your sideboard or buffet table with groups of candles. If you place a mirror behind them, you can double the soft glow dancing around the room.
If you like to frequently change the décor in your home, you might consider painting a chalkboard border. This chalkboard wraps around a dining room between paneling and a lovely coved ceiling; it's the perfect canvas for beautiful script.
7. Get all chalked up. Entertain guests with menus or daily inspirational quotes for the family — right on the walls. Cleanup is easy, and it's a fun way to have a different look every day. Now that is cool.
Take a look around your house today, and instead of thinking about the carpet that needs replacing or the French doors you'd like for your bedroom, think about the little things. Could you replace drawer pulls on your dresser and change the look of the room? Could you add pops of red to your kitchen for a fresh appearance? And what do your house numbers say about you?More:The Right Hardware: Jewelry For Your Home

I like how the rhythm of the font becomes a visual texture that is interesting beyond what the words say.
I like the whole concept of a focal wall in a dining room. This is a new concept to me. The chalkboard paint is a novel concept and would definitely invite comments and stimulate conversation.
Love the black chalkboard paint with the wood panelling! Sure we can find a way in the new house. Esp like the cursive writing filling it up,and this room in particular, so not necessarily just for kids' space.
