1000sf new house with very tight budget. Owner had looked at prefab, but we found that in the end they were more expensive than to design & build a small house on site.

where can I find a fence panel with a 4"x6" grid. who is the manufacturer? - I want to use this type of fencing on my deck but have not been able to find it through my local dealers »
Ignacio Salas-Humara Architect We purchased ours from a local farm & ranch store. Tractor Supply might have them. If you don't have any of those around, you can Google "cattle panel" or "hog panel" to find suppliers. Your local hardware store or Tractor Supply can order them for you if you ask them to. They come in different overall sizes as well as different grid sizes. Make sure you get a grid size and overall railing height that corresponds to your local building codes.
Ignacio Salas-Humara Architect I can't comment on building codes in your area. You will have to measure the panels that you find in your area to see if they fit your local codes.
The owners of this small modern home were so sensitive to its surroundings that the deck was built around a tree on the site. While the budget for the home was tight, the owners sprung for two Eames rockers — a worthy investment.
This wire is cattle or hog panels. This grid is 4" x 6". Anchor edges of panels to the 2" x 4" cedar frame, then trim with 2" x 2" cedar on both sides of panel.
Cedar lumber for frame and galvanized wire panels for the inserts, found at farm & ranch supply stores. Come in various sizes and can be cut to required size; held in place by cedar trim pieces. Top handrail is 2 x 6 cedar pieces slightly slanted to roll off rain water.
