The Design Den Homes Inc. Hi there. We too love this clean look.... But our local codes make it a tad difficult. We located the drain + water valves on the right side wall of the counter, with a cover panel. Electrical hook ups were roughed in behind the dryer as usual.
The Design Den Homes Inc. Ha! We have installed a few of these now, one in a family members home, and it's fantastic. Because it is porcelain, you have to be careful with scratching it with metal objects, but besides that, it's great!
The Design Den Homes Inc. Hi there! Yes this room is below grade. The dryer vent was installed during the renovation, behind the drywall and vented outside. Thanks for your question.
Where did you get the lingerie scrub board? - I recently moved to florida and my lingerie scrub board like the one in the photo didn't arrive. Haven't been able to find it online or in a local retail store. »
It is in fact a very creamy yellow. Found in the off-white section, or the first color tint on a color fan. It would be closer to the green family, then the red, but still quite neutral. Your paint color needs some kind of reference. In this case, the rug pulls all the colors together, so find that special piece that will make your paint color have context.
Sink base? - One more question! I love the sink and I know it's from Ikea but is the sink base also from Ikea? It seems that most Ikea cabinets are on legs and I see toe-kick on this sink base so I'm curious! Thanks again! »
Joy Cook Ok. So. I'm sorry for having asked so many questions - but perhaps you can help with one more. We are in the middle of installing our Ikea farmhouse sink and are having a heck of a time! I bought the corresponding cabinet and planned to use it as a freestanding cabinet/sink. The installation instructions aren't great and every bit of information I've read online suggests that this sink does not rest on the metal supports that are provided with the sink and instead the sink is primarily supported by the surrounding countertop. Do you recall how this sink is supported in your application? Again, I'm so sorry to bother you with this - and thank you for all of your help - we're almost done!
The Design Den Homes Inc. Hi Joy- no problem! We understand how these little unclear details can get frustrating.
Your assumptions are correct. The sink should be supported by the surrounding countertop or additional side panels if you are making it a free standing unit, with no counters butting up to it.
The metal brackets are to secure the unit to the base. Not intended to bare the weight.
I hope this confirms what you ended up doing, and your that much closer to the end result.
We look forward to seeing the end result!
How is the countertop mounted? - I absolutely adore everything about this room! Love the sink and the countertop and I'm hoping to achieve this look in my laundry room remodel - however I'm very curious how the top is mounted over the washer and dryer. Is it just resting on top? Also, I know it is a custom made piece - how would I go about finding someone to make a piece like this in my area? Love, love love it! Thank you so much for your time! »
Joy Cook Thank you so much for your responses! I couldn't see the side panels in any of the photos and that's why I was so curious about how it was mounted. Thanks again I can't believe how helpful you've been! If I can get my room anywhere near close to what you have I will definitely post pics!
cflowers1 I was going to ask how was the countertop mounted as well.. My husband and I are in the process of building and I just love how the countertop looks in the photo.. Kudos to you!
How tall are the countertops? - Are these under the counter washer and dryers or regular height at 38-39" Im curious im doing this same thing and getting regular height washer and dryers but was thinking about dropping the sink I was curious if you feel like the sink is to high up if these are in fact 38-39" washer and dryers »
The Design Den Homes Inc. Great question Jennifer. These are in fact higher then the regular counter height of 36". This counter is approximately 39". Because the other counters in the room are at the standard height, we weren't too concerned about ease of use. As for the sink- because it is dropped down, we found that the height was still fine. I think the most important thing to consider is who will be using the area most. It the main user is 5'3" , this counter height would be impractical if used throughout the space.
