Courtyards and potagers. This interior space, a long passage(with symmetrically placed lighting and planters, leads to a plant-filled courtyard that still retains a sense of openness, thanks to the single color palatte and the low-key gravel paving.
This covered area leads to a courtyard - but a similar idea could be used for the porte cochere and motor court - the motor court could be made into a pretty area if planted around the edges.
Beautiful formal forecourt for entrance into courtyard - try to achieve similar feel for our forecourt with carriage lamps and planters, lime wash the red bricks ?
I like the crisp feel, an always fresh look. Feels like a royal carriage would pull up at any moment! The backdrop would stage any seasonal decorating theme. The garden draws you in once you get past the beauty of the entrance.
I like the idea of a breezeway connecting the garage to the house rather than walking directly through garage to house. Nice for casual guests too. At our house they all come in through the garage if open!
