The first time I went skiing as a kid, we stayed in an A-frame mountain house complete with a potbelly stove and a sleeping loft where my best friend and I bunked. In this photograph, I like how you have to take a ladder to get to the loft of this A-frame cabin, and also how the ladder doubles to reach both sets of bookshelves.
If we created a little sleeping/storage loft area in the attic, then we'd probably access it by ladder instead of another staircase. A handle at the top of the ladder would be helpful and improve safety. (See the handle on the left of ladder in this photo.) We could have a handle on each side.
