Anne DeCocco Circa Lighting has similar fixtures that look great in kitchens. Look at their "merchant" and "subway" pendants. This kitchen, with it's beautiful ceiling, has got to be one of the most viewed photos!
Rebekah Zaveloff | KitchenLab Often times painted finishes like this are on Maple. Each manufacturer has a standard 'white' or 'ivory' and custom companies offer an color you want to pick from the color deck.
Vicki Feder I love the look and I was told by several people that I would be sorry if I used that - shows all dirt and smears. Anyone have comments....must decide soon.
poorgirl Yes, they are right, black is the hardest stone to keep clean, everything shows on it. I would suggest looking into a honed absolute black countertop, not so shiny, therefor not everything shows on it.
Do you have any views of the sitting room portion, near the fire place, of this great room? It looks like a well done kitchen, dining, sitting room transition in a large open room, and I'd love to see more pictures or an top-view design sketch. »
Shareen Webb Thanks petsorus, for taking time to answer. I checked out their website per your suggestion. (I was surprised that their page on houzz is much easier to see/read). They have nice pictures of their work, I was just hoping for a different view than the ones on houzz or their website. There is one that shows the dining table better, but I can't find one that shows the sitting area hinted at by white chair in this photo. Thanks again.

What are the dimensions of the family room? - I love this kitchen/ family room set up. We are planning an addition with just this set up and want to know if I've allowed enough room. »
There's nothing like perfect symmetry to make you feel strong and stable in a space. Here, the symmetry between the height of the fireplace and the height of the windows creates such a feeling of confidence. Using two identical topiaries on the left and right side of the firebox also lends to the well-balanced look and feel in this space.
4. Create spaces that allow for a feeling of both privacy and activity. One of the great things about a restaurant meal is the ability to have a private experience with just those you came with, but in a public space.
This kitchen and family room comes very close to my ideal version of such a space. The ceiling surface between the beams is lined with beadboard and simple light fixtures are placed at each beam intersection. Perfect. The cabinetry could not be more beautiful and gorgeous floor to ceiling windows line the space. The only change I would wish for are slightly darker floors to create a bit more contrast. But really, if offered, I'd take the space just as it is in a heartbeat and be content for years to come!
Here's another similar size and shaped semi-recessed leg, however in this case the leg is flat. Again, you can see the additional molding along the top and the furniture-style base trim rather than a recessed toekick where the panel and legs meet the floor. This countertop runs straight across and doesn't follow the projection of the leg. Legs like this vary in size from 6" to as large as 9".
Rows of semiflush-mount pendants blend the best of both worlds: the visual appeal of pendant lighting and the low profile of a flush mount. Thanks to their orderly placement, these also enhance the architecture of the coffered ceilings.
Like the flow of the space. Would love to put the fireplace with side windows on the north kitchen wall/extension but with the french doors opening on the left.
LOVE the openness and that it flows into the family room ... I want my family to be 'together' although participating in different activities! The open floor plan - just my style. Roomy, efficient, bright, open, excellent for multitasking and entertaining!
Perfect ceiling with boxed beams with beadboard between...like Claudia did in Lodges basement...and without lowering ceiling...
Can we be creative and do something like this?
