The client wanted an old world feel with cutting edge performance. Room is framed and insulated for a R-value of 28. The 2 1/8" solid Brown Maple wine cellar curved top doors contain high efficiency, gas-filled, sealed glass units. Automatic thresholds are installed under the cellar door to create a perfect seal with nothing to step over.
The wine cellar is made of sustainably harvested Brown Maple with a custom stain. The cabinet below the wet bar on the left side conceals wine paraphernalia. Walls and ceiling are faux finished - the ducting beams were painted as wood to blend into the surroundings. The hand hammered wrought iron on the 450lbs cellar door assembly were produced by master blacksmith and finished with hand rubbed beeswax and blacking the way iron was done 200 years ago.
