Should the TV and the couch not face each other? We have a living room which we are trying to decorate and am facing a dilemma where for the correct viewing distance, the couch and the TV will be on adjacent walls not facing each other. any other way will reduce the viewing distance. Is this arrangement uncomfortable? »
Niki Papadopoulos I personally have this arrangement in my house and I love it. Aside from being comfortable (for me at least) I like that when the TV is off, it still promotes conversation. I am not of the school of thinking that the TV should dominate the room and all other design decisions be made around it.
Of course it always depends on the client, if you watch TV a lot then this might not be the best arrangement for you. Consider positioning your sofa in front of the TV and flanking the sofa with club chairs, that is another typical arrangement I use a lot.
In regards to viewing distance that is also a personal decision. You need to be comfortable only you can determine that. Good Luck!
The neutral tones and swivel chairs in this scene have a similar feel to the Chateau's 1,200-square-foot One Bedroom Penthouse Suite. At the hotel, the suite includes a king-size bed, large living room with hardwood floor, formal dining room, full kitchen and two patio private terraces — certainly enough to make you want to put out the "do not disturb" sign.
Here the choice of a swivel chair along with the open chrome coffee table saves on floor space, makes the room feel larger, and lets that gorgeous rug get all of the attention it deserves.
Bookshelf speakers are good options for those with smaller budgets or less available floor space. Compact enough to sit on a shelf, these still allow air to flow around the entire unit for better sound than many in-wall speakers.
Notice cocktail table level and viewing area of fireplace , fireplace surround (tile from tc) and simple mantel that is spaced well with simple bookcase and does not take up too much space
