Use existing loveseat for eating area. They can easily sit side by side on the one they have. A round table instead of butcher block? this one would be a good prep surface as well, but a square side seems more practical

Not really a dining nook, as it's adjacent to a work counter and next to a door. With a settee against the wall, a small round pedestal table and two small bentwood chairs, you get a lot of seating/dining area in a very small area. Since the chairs are very light and the table small, it's easy to shift them to the side to open the area if you're working at the counter. Or, you can use the table for extra work area for a big project.
