how did you build the mantel and shelves around the fire place? - i havea 1930's home and would like to put our flat screen television above the fireplace but I dont believe it will hold securly and would like to put it on a mantel instead that is above the fireplace. I would also like to add shelves to the left and right side of the fireplace to have more room for pictures and the rest of our entertainment equipment.
Can I build something similar to this design myself? »
lisab557 I, too, am dying to know how the bookshelves were built on either side of the fireplace! I am on a BUDGET here, but I have a fireplace and the walls are indented on either side of my fireplace---so shelves would make a natural focal point. I just don't know how! ARRGH!
Where did you get the futon mattress from? or did you make it yourself? I have a similar futon and the mattress is not really a mattress, its like a massive and heavy/thick cover. Its awful! Been looking to change it something similar like this but cant find anything. And the one piece mattresses are very expensive. Help! :) »
nicole helene designs Oh sure, those can be tricky. The loveseat was provided by The Joinery. (www.thejoinery.com) It does sort of resemble a futon but it actually is not. The piece is called the Pacific Loveseat and you can find it on their website here: http://www.thejoinery.com/furniture/living-room/seating/pacific-loveseat
This is asymmetrical balance because the room is not the same on both sides. But the two chairs equal the same balance as the couch to create asymmetrical balance.
