This project is for a new Kitchen, Mudroom and Master Bathroom in an existing 1890's pattern book clapboard house in Maplewood, New Jersey. The design solution eliminates the numerous small and choppy spaces and unites them into one, united loft-like kitchen space. The design in both layout and aesthetic mediates between the traditional language of the house and the owner's desired modern aesthetic. A new freezer and refrigerator are clad in long ceramic tile and bookend the working surface of the new kitchen.

Width if back wall - How wide is the back wall in this photo? »
Miller & Wright Architects The back wall here is 9'-6". About 30" clear on either side of the shower (required for toilet), and then the shower itself is about 4'-6" wide.
Which color of grey grout to pair with white octogan tile ? - I am having difficulty deciding which grey grout to pick to use with my white octogan tile....Narrowed it down to Natural Grey, Delorean Grey, or Charcoal Grey. Does anyone have any insight on these colors? This will be going in my boys bathroom so I want to make sure the grout is dark enough to "hide" the dirt =) Thought the Delorean might be too light??? »
Miller & Wright Architects We usually recommend grout as dark as a client will approve. Ask your installer to provide insight on which colors might actually lighten/wash out over time (some pigments are less permanent). All will get darker due to dirt in trafficked areas.
Sorry our response was not more timely... Send us an image of your project, if it is complete!
7. White subway tile with gray grout. This combination recalls ... wait for it ... the subway! It's a bit more Paris Metro than any other subway these days. Gray grout has answered a lot of our bathroom cleaning prayers; I'm so glad it has become popular again. When a medium to dark gray grout is used with a light colored tile, the tiling pattern stands out.
Take the classic subway tile and gray grout combination all the way up the wall. Break it up with mirrors, fixtures, windows and trim; play off its regularity with a river pebble tile floor.
