Awarded “best in show” at the 2008 Texas ASID Design Ovation awards, this bathroom is finished with chiseled stone, supple suede, and ancient fossil details. A mahogany bow-front vanity features a honed limestone countertop and curved backslash. A weathered bronze vessel sink and fixtures warm the light-toned stone. Ammonites are transformed into unique pulls for the vanity cabinets. Above, a personalized mirror, echoing the curves of the vanity, is crowned with a monogrammed shield. Adjacent to the vanity area, the tub is paneled in mahogany and decked in limestone. The plumbing fixtures repeat weathered bronze patina of sink hardware. Surrounding the tub, the walls are tiled in a limestone mosaic designed to impart the feel of dry-stack stones. A wainscot featuring embedded ammonites adds additional detail above the tub deck and throughout the room. A Shale plate featuring fossilized fish over 50 million years old provides a whimsical sense of movement to the room. photos: Danny Piassick
