Handrail and post - Could you share the stain or paint color of the newel post and balustrades? Much appreciated. »
elllsworth11 This is the home owner. The foyer I think is 927 Benjamin Moore white swan. We also tried Oc-9 so it is possible it might have been that. Try both and see which you prefer. Also, the trim is Benjamin Moore Satin Impervo oil based and the color is Atrium White. Highly recommend you do all trim this color. Ceilings are half white flat mixed with the Atrium white in flat. Let me know if you have any more questions.
Clawson Architects, LLC Not sure what the exact hanging height is on this lantern. I often suggest that you cut a piece of cardboard out in the shape of your fixture and hang it from a string and see how it feels to you in the space. The Ceiling in the foyer is 9'-0"
elllsworth11 Yes- all the same stain- think 3 coats. Stain on railings would be finished with a different sealant- it would be the minwax oil based polyurethane in semi gloss. Floors are finished with Absco in satin. All information about color and wood type is given in the answers to the other questions in the Clawon Architects set of pictures of this room and others in the house: white quartersawn oak, stained 50 percent Jocobean and 50 percent Ebony mix. Same on railings- if too light make them a little more ebony mixed in.
tinabarr I really like the color of this floor, but I'm about to refinish the floors in a house that's a little smaller (small brick colonial) and am concerned that floors this dark could make the house seem smaller. Thoughts?
wood floor type and stain color - I love the floors! could you please tell me what kind of wood and what color stain you used to achieve this look? thank you »
Crysta Levesque Is there a floor that is already stained similiar to this, I don't know much about wood floors but it seems like a lot of steps when buying new.
Eutree Wide Plank Flooring Crysta, it does seem that way at first. Our one on one consultation process helps you through the whole project. We make your floor for you and help you to decide on an installer/stain. Let me know if you have any questions. joel@eutree.com
colettejohndrow Your house is stunning! I absolutely love this look...it's so elegant. Can you please tell me what color of white is on your walls and trim please?
elllsworth11 The walls are Benjamin Moore OC-9 (ballet white) flat (prettier than eggshell finish, but harder to keep clean); and the trim is Benjamin Moore Satin Impervo (oil based) in Atrium White. This is a beautiful color trim for the entire house! Do all trim in Satin Impervo no matter what color you choose, slight shine, a classic old fashioned look. Also all ceilings: mixture 50% atrium white and 50% white -flat. Good luck!
We don't have quite this much width -- but the railing at the second floor wrapping the overlook into the first floor is similar in character to my initial sketch
