Can't Have too Many Cooks in this Kitchen
Traditional, Seattle
No more dust catching cabinets please!
The homeowners wanted the cabinets to go to the ceiling to minimize the dust collection zone of the original kitchen. It was also important to capture every bit of storage possible; the void on the wall was filled with floating shelves in the remodel.
The beam that runs over the sink counter could not be changed in a cost effective manner. However, attention was paid in the remodel to select light fixtures (recessed cans would not fit due to the slope of the roof) to minimize the appearance of any light fixtures behind the beam while providing the necessary light for the clean-up and prep area around the sink.
