There are two main points. The first is to back butter the tile ( add a layer of adhesive directly to the back of the tile) and then set into the adhesive on the wall. The tiles are 1 inch thick so it is ok to have the adhesive ooze up. The second is to run the tile in a Z pattern so seems are not obvious.
