Inspired by the romance of Slovakian folk art, Maija Isola designed Satula ("saddle") in 1960 as part of Ornamentti ("ornamental") seriesher largest collection of work. Reminiscent of traditional embroidery motifs, Satula suggests the illusion of lace. Adorned with intricate florals and filigree, elliptical shapes stack in vertical repetition on heavy-duty gift wrap, visually separated by a contrasting center channel.
