selh05 I would love to know how they are fastened to the wall since one side is by the door. My contractor and I have been looking for a stainless shelf that doesnt need a bracket that would get in the way.
island light - Hi, just wondering if you get a lot of glare from the bulbs in this type of pendent lighting. Our kitchen/front room are open space but some people's view will be towards the kitchen. Concerned that it might have too much glare factor! Looks sharp though »
Fiorella Design No glare...very nice, been in the space many times and never even occurred to me that there was 'glare'. If you look at other photos of the space it's a very open room...
stonebridgehouse Thank you for your prompt answer. Would you know what type of a bulb it uses? Not sure if I had read the distributor for the lights, would you happen to know that. I am a Canadian doing research as we are building a new home, we arer 62 years old. Our friends think we r nuts; that we should down size and go condo apartment. We are going bigger! Making it more senior friendly such as walk in shower, huge pantry with freezer, another main floor laundry but bigger! Ceramic tile throughout most of the home except for the bedroom. We will be using a boiler in floor heat system. I will never worry about a scratch on a hardwood floor ever again. Lets the dogs and kids runneth over!
Fiorella Design the blue on the right is from crate and barrel a couple years ago. the yellow below it is from Heath tile. the yellow ones on the left top are vintage from my own collection.
Are these shelves curved? - I have wall space with traffic flow flow from both sides, so a curved shelf that is closer to walls at that point would prevent a forehead from being hit! I am handy and was thinking of cutting and shaping them myself, but if readily available , and in stainless finish, and if shipping to Hawaii does not cost more than the shelf itself, (which is why I became such an avid do-it-yourselfer) who sells the shelves? »
bgrusso Thank you ,Fiorella Design, for getting back to me so soon.....so now I know what my next project is....but I'll curve the ends and leave the wood natural and tile the exposed edge with my leftover mosaic limestone pieces from my kitchen backsplash which is nearby.
Love Love Love - I am going to do the same type of shelving in my kitchen what colour are the cabinets. Just ordered my kitchen but waiting on the colour until I choose the counter (this cesarstone was one choice but the Chantily Lace I picked made the quartz look yellowish - , my other choice would be a white marble like granite). Dove White is very yellow on the MDF Boards I painted which all the designers are saying to use. So hard to make choices. thank you its wonderful to have resources, photos etc.. from professionals. »
6. Create balance through a chosen theme of colors. Like the previous photo, this designer captured balance by focusing on jars in four similar colors: blue, yellow, white and clear. Instead of grouping similar colors together, spread them out to create an equilibrium between the objects.
Maybe intentionally, maybe not, this white and soft-gray kitchen is so incredibly elegant and feminine. The basic palette provides a beautiful backdrop to the other splashes of colors in the accessories.
11. Houzz users were enchanted by the soothing gray and white tones in this kitchen — the intricately tiled backsplash immediately catches the eye. However, what our readers really loved was the open shelving above the sink. It's an easy solution for a little extra kitchen storage, and allows the kitchen to still feel open and light.
9. Create wall art. Use your favorite tile to create a stunning backsplash installed from countertop to ceiling as your own personal touch of art. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so get creative.
The tile is from Waterworks. It's called Tatami. Very pricy at about $120 sf.

The colors are all custom. In this backsplash we used Thassos, Ming Green and Celeste.
