Elizabeth Gordon The table is actually a partner's desk that I had custom made for the project. It is made from alder wood, which is an inexpensive wood species standardly used in furniture fabrication. One of the great things about alder is that the wood grain is very vertical, which makes for a great looking finish when it is stained or painted. For the partner's desk, I had a specialty finish called a foxtail finish applied in a custom grey colored base so set it off from the hardwood flooring stain color.
