I would like to know what color wall I could paint my dining room with gold drapes? I would like something that would make it look a little contemporary since the room is very traditional, with crystal chandelier, and dark wood furniture. I don't want reds. Thanks! »
Anne DeCocco Sure--there really are lots of different shades of gray and taupe--both in warm or cool undertones. Keep them both warm or cool and it could look smashing.
My family room is 15' x 20' and it has a slope ceiling from 8' to 16'. I would like to change to ceiling to a tray ceiling and was wondering if you had and design for this »
The dining room was decorated in bright colors derived from a set of antique china. Antiques and paintings were carefully chosen, and the chairs were custom designed by Brown Davis Interiors.
Orange Coral. This color can be best described as a vivid, fruity orange. It has strong red undertones, and it makes an amazing and unforgettable accent color.

Here is one way to go about it: boldly. If you want a look that will delight and surprise visitors, transform your ceiling into a glowing orange accent and complement it with yellow drapery. Orange-backed chairs pull the color back down to the floor for visual balance while white walls create a neutral backdrop so the strength of the two shades can stand as focal points without overwhelming the room.
If you have a more traditionally styled home, try taking a bit of a risk with tangerine accents. The bright coffered ceiling and dining chair backs take this dining room to the next level.
It’s not uncommon these days to see ceilings that really have punch. Help the ceiling’s unexpected aesthetic feel part of the space by applying the color to the room’s furnishings.
