Can I blend wood, carpet and tile? - Do wood floors have to be the same type and color for every room? Also, I have carpet going up the stairs and in the hallway, along with tile in the bathrooms. Can you use tile, wood and carpet in one house or will it look to busy. I have the whole downstairs done in tile. The bathroom has a different tile pattern. I would like to put wood in the formal living room, that would match the bannister of the stairs and wood in the office that would match the desk. They would be 2 different colors and butted up to the same tile. Would that look acceptable. »
3. What if I have an open staircase? When you have treads but no risers, then you can wrap each stair with carpeting. Note that the carpeting has been continued out on to the bottom landing instead of ending with the stairs. It's another nice option for where to end the runner.
We are building a new two storey house to replace our bungalow. i need a central staircase that will open onto a gallaried landing on both floors. I need a staircase that you can see through as there will be doors at the back into the kitchen which when open will look through to the view of the garden
