Google frameless glass shower structure. We have this in our new master bath and it really does make the space look airy and open. Our contractor got a local glass company to do this, they had to special order but it was no problem. In a larger town, it would probably be something they could just do right away.

In general, most glass companies would prefer to have a header when a shower door is not hinged off of a wall. When hinged such as this (glass to glass) without a header, our experience has been that there is a lot of shaking and movement when the door is opened. As long as the homeowner is aware of this and that it is a less stable installation, it is the homeowners' call and our glass provider will go ahead and do the installation. They will not, however, warranty that it will hold up over time. I am sure each glass company has their own policies regarding this.
