Hallmark Interior Design LLC No - the cabinetry runs all the way around the island basically 2 cabinets back to back with support legs in the corners, so it is solid. I'm generalizing here, but you only need to reinforce when there are large overhangs without support below.

Hallmark Interior Design LLC The backsplash tiles are from a line called "Antiquities" in a glazed finish, and the colorway is seafoam. I purchased them from "Cactus tile" in AZ. Each piece is handmade and the colors vary greatly - this is one dye lot. The granite on the Island is "Picasso" and the granite on the perimeter of the kitchen is Costa Smerelda. I have noticed when working in different locations that some granite names change according to vendor.
