Sharon Binette depends on the quality of the glass that you use for this. I didn't use glass in the kitchen, just bathrooms. I think this question is for the person with the kitchen application, but thought I would comment anyway.

K. D. If you are interested in glass countertops, I would recommend to have a look at ThinkGlass countertops ( www.thinkglass.com ). This company creates glass countertop using hand made texture at the bottom and thermoformed glass on top. The end result is a stunnigg glass countertop that is unique and durable.
